What is the Climate Change Levy?

The Climate Change Levy is an environmental tax charged on the energy used by businesses. The levy is typically detailed on your electricity bill. It’s designed to encourage businesses to be more energy efficient in how they operate, helping to reduce their overall greenhouse emissions.

Introduced on 1 April 2001 under the Finance Act 2000, it was forecast to cut annual emissions by 2.5 million tonnes by 2010, and forms part of the UK's Climate Change Programme. The levy applies to most commercial energy users..

What Process Is Involved?

Once you have engaged our service, on a no rebate, no fee basis, and have been allocated a specialist consultant, we will immediately get to work on your behalf.

We will consult with you to determine eligibility and identify which processes qualify you for Climate Change Levy Exemption.

Beyond this, by liaising directly with your energy providers, The Environment Agency and HMRC we will work to secure a "Climate Change Agreement", or amend your existing agreement.  Saving your time.

By using our specialist, detailed knowledge and expertise of the system and processes, we will undertake significant due diligence, on your behalf, to eventually compose a compelling case in order to secure a "Climate Change Agreement" (or amend your existing agreement).  This agreement will enable us to subsequently claim a rebated amount for incorrectly applied Climate Change Levy over the past 6 years.

Why Use US?

Expert knowledge and understanding of the process and all its technical details is critical in order to successfully negotiate a Climate Change Levy Exemption.

We must firstly, establish eligible processes within your business, calculate the overall consumption and costs associated with these processes and eventually compile a compelling case as to why exemption should be applied.

This is a highly technical process of which detailed understanding is paramount.

We have experience in successfully securing many rebates, often exceeding £30k.

By engaging our No Rebate, No Fee service, you benefit from our wealth of experience and detailed understanding of the processes involved.

We only work on a No Rebate, No Fee basis, so this is a risk free, zero capex proposition whereby we are highly incentivised to secure the largest possible rebate.

Please see link for a copy of the 170 page long Environment Agency operations manual, detailing the process involved in securing this rebate.
